Captain Robert L. Sadler, Jr. was born in New York City. He graduated from the State University of New York, Maritime College at Fort Schuyler in 1968, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Transportation. Captain Sadler is licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard as an Unlimited Master and is a member of the Council of American Master Mariners.

As the firm's Marine Investigator, Captain Sadler participates in the investigative and developmental phases of cases. He draws upon years of experience as Master of tank ships, bulk carriers and other vessels, as well as numerous appearances as a marine expert witness, to provide technical advice and guidance to the firm's attorneys. His status as an International Safety Management Auditor, vetting consultant and operations analyst enables him to research historical data and to review all available information needed to successfully represent our clients.

Captain Sadler is the author and co-author of numerous maritime training courses, including "Bridge Resources, Bridge Teams and Shiphandling" and "Enclosed Space Entry". He also authored the MARAD "Emergency Procedures Guide" for specific ready Reserve vessels and co-authored the MARAD "Engine Operations Manual" for the ro-ro vessel "Cape Texas".
